Ontario SPCA – Family Violence Assistance Program

The Ontario SPCA’s Family Violence Assistance Program works with participating Ontario women’s shelters to provide safe emergency shelter on an interim basis to the companion animals of families entering women’s shelters.  Note that animal welfare concerns should be directed to your closest Ontario SPCA community.  (The Lanark County affiliate of the SPCA is the Lanark Animal Welfare Society – see above.)

The Assaulted Women’s Helpline

The Assaulted Women’s Helpline is a 24-hour telephone and TTY crisis line for Ontario women who have experienced domestic and sexual violence.  The helpline provides crisis counselling, emotional support, safety planning, guidance around options, and appropriate referrals.

The Farm Line

The Farm Line provides a toll free, confidential, anonymous, bilingual helpline that offers emotional support and referral services to farmers and rural families in Ontario.  The Farm Line provides access to peer support on agricultural subjects, addressing issues and situations, ranging from financial to legal to personal, family, and mental health.

The Men’s Project

The Men’s Project is committed to assisting and supporting the development of provincial services for male victims of childhood sexual abuse and recent sexual assault.  Crisis and support services are available province-wide by calling the number below Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

The National Parole Board will provide information to victims and their families on federal offenders sentenced for two years or more.

Victim Support Line

The Victim Support Line (VSL) is a province-wide, bilingual, toll-free information line providing a range of services to victims of crime.  The VSL offers: personal information and referral to support services in your community; pre-recorded information about the criminal justice system; and access to information about provincially sentenced offenders.  You can also register for automated notifications when an offender’s status changes.
